SOBER GRAD 2012
Sober Grad Night events are held for thousands of graduating seniors each year. They offer students a safe, sober, supervised, and fun place to celebrate their high school graduation with their friends.
We would like to share some statistics with you, obtained from the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.) website and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) data.
- In California in 2003, there were 4,215 traffic-related fatalities; 30% were alcohol-related
- In 2003, motor vehicle crashes were the leading cause of death for young people from 15-20 years old; 25% of these drivers had been drinking
- In 2000, around prom and graduation weekends, almost 60% of traffic fatalities were alcohol-related
Keeping these staggering statistics in mind, we are requesting your help in continuing Shasta High School's Sober Grad Night tradition.
We always keep in mind that our primary goal is to provide a safe and sober celebration, and we could use your support.
