Course
Description:
The course emphasizes proper technique and operation
of the computer and a number of its programs by
using critical thinking, problem solving, and
team work. This course is designed to help students
achieve an understanding in computer literacy
with components including computers and data processing,
hardware, software, history, computer ethics,
and telecommunications.
Course Length: One (1) Year
Objectives:
• Type by touch a minimum of 25 words per
minute on a 3-minute scale
• Produce business letters, personal business
letters, reports, tables, resumes, and cover letters
• Demonstrate proficiency in word processing,
database assignments, operating spreadsheets,
and using presentation software
• Demonstrate awareness and knowledge of
the computers affect on the world by becoming
knowledgeable in computer literacy
Prerequisites: None
College
Credits: This course is dual enrolled with Shasta College (CIS 1) and students will receive three (3) college credits upon successful completion of the course at the conclusion of the school year.
