Course
Descriptions:
This semester class will introduce students to one of the fastest growing types of business in the world. Concepts covered include: marketing, e-retailing, business organization and management, telecommunications, web design, customer relations, product development, distribution, pricing, promotion, and entrepreneurship.
Objectives:
- Understand how personal skill development and positive traits affect employability.
- Identify future career opportunities in eCommerce and begin the creation of a digital portfolio.
- Set and establish goals and objectives for an eCommerce website while considering the target audience demographics.
- Understand how eCommerce has changed the way people do business in the global marketplace.
- Identify the major components of an eCommerce business plan.
- Define eCommerce and some of the key components of the internet, including FTP, email, and the World Wide Web.
- Describe the historical development of eCommerce and its relationship to the internet.
- Explore and visit online stores in order to observe the various methods of effective and ineffective eCommerce environments.
- Understand the existence of cultural differences and how content, design, and navigation might be received by different populations around the world.
- Define the different types of business structures and explain the key differences between each type.
Prerequisites: Computer Applications 1 or instructor approval.
College
Credits: Students will receive one (1) college credit1 upon successful completion of the course at the conclusion of the semester.
