Description:
This semester class is designed to familiarize students with concepts in Organizational Management and Business Leadership. Students will have the opportunity to experience and learn about their own leadership style and then apply that style to various real world situations. Students will also be exposed to the principles and concepts involved with managing and leading their own business, technological innovations, financial decision making, and human resource management.
Objectives:
- Organizational Structures and Leadership in Management including group dynamics, work culture, departmentalization, productivity improvement, and multicultural awareness.
- Human Resource Management including human relations, interviewing, resume review, and performance reviews.
- Managing Business Finances including budgeting, forecasting, and understanding the various types of financial records businesses use.
- Business Ownership and Operations including the different types of business, franchising, retailing, and stock offerings.
- Entrepreneurship and Leading Your Own Business including the risks involved, virtual businesses, and their impact on the economy.
- Managing Technology for a Business including equipment, internet sales, and the impact that technology has on a business.
Course Length: One (1) Semester
Prerequisites: Computer Applications (CIS 1) or instructor approval
